Q. What
type of person is an exercise test suitable for?
An exercise test is most suitable
for anyone involved in regular activity or is planning
to do so in the near future.
Q. What
is involved in taking a test?
We can carry out an Exercise Test
on any piece of equipment found in a gym. Our 2 most
popular choices are a treadmill and an exercise bike.
There is also a VO2max test for those who regularly
train and work out.
Q. How
long does a test last?
The test itself lasts between 10
- 15 minutes with the remainder of the hour spent
on analysis of the results with you.
Q. What
should I wear during an exercise test?
You need to wear suitable, comfortable
exercise kit of your choice to do an exercise test.
Q. Is
there anything I should avoid doing before a test?
Ensure you do not eat or drink
anything other than water 3 hours before the test.
This is critically important. If you do eat or drink
anything before the test, there is a strong likelihood
that the test will have to be postponed to another
time. If you smoke, do not smoke at least 3 hours
before the test. Try to avoid any strenuous activity
at least 24 hours before your test. If you take a
max test, we would advise complete rest for 48 hours
before if you want to score the best result possible.
We would not advise working out or going to the gym
until after you have done your assessment.
Q. Are
the results accurate?
The analyser is extremely accurate
and is made in the USA by the world leaders in gas
exchange analysis for use in sports science and research
facilities. Athletes have been using gas exchange
to train this way for around 25 years, only now has
technology allowed the unit to be affordable for use
in this way.
Q. What
information do I get from an exercise test?
All our information is given in
heart rate terms: You will know the heart rate zone
where you burn the maximum amount of body fat, your
lactate threshold and the point where you stop burning
body fat when you are exercising. With the VO2max
test you receive all the above, plus HRmax (your maximum
heart rate) and VO2max (your fitness level).
Q. Will
I get a full training programme after an exercise test?
No - if you are looking for a full
training programme, then consider our Remote Coaching
product. You will know exactly where you should be
training in order to achieve the best results in the
fastest possible time. This will be invaluable for
you when you use the gym or do any exercise or activity
and use a heart rate monitor.
Q. How
can I book a test and where do they take place?
You can book a test either directly
from our website, by calling any of your local trainsmart
Instructors in your area and booking a test directly
with them or by calling Head Office and we can book
a test for you at a facility of your choice. Locations
can be found on our website.
Q. How
much does an exercise test cost?
An exercise test costs £100. This
includes the test and analysis and generally lasts
for 1 hour. If you choose to combine with a Weight
Loss test, the price is £125. Please check our website
as local price variations and special offers may exist.
